Studio A

This is a workshop combining both didactic and experiential exercises designed for psychologists to learn more about how to use yoga for de-stressing and interoception.

Participants should come away with an increased knowledge about how to ground oneself before and after work as well as optimally utilize the 10 minutes in-between sessions with clients to quickly release stress on the mind and body by using a series of postures that are sequenced specifically for psychologists.

The workshop will be accessible to everyone as it will include some discussion, seated postures and low-impact poses.  If you have questions about your suitability for the workshop, please contact the organizer.

Instructor:Erika Palmquist Smith, LPCC, RYT-500
Erika is a Licensed Clinical Counselor and yoga teacher who teaches breathing, postures, and mindfulness techniques. Erika began her exploration of yoga in 2000, and found it to be an incredibly useful tool to cope with her chronic migraines. In her 12 years of clinical counseling practice, Erika has worked with victims of domestic violence, adults and children with severe and persistent mental illness, and children on the autism spectrum. She is currently working with patients coping with chronic pain, and is passionate about combining traditional counseling methods with gentle yoga and mindfulness techniques to increase client's mind-body connection and overall wellness.
When Erika isn't practicing yoga or at the clinic, she's probably playing outside with her husband, three young daughters, and their menagerie of pets.
