The Risks of Prolonged Grief Disorder

During COVID-19

Saturday, November 13th @ 9:30 – 12:15 PM, 2.5CE

Join Brad Leary, LCSW, CT as he leads you through the process of working with bereaved individuals and those experiencing non-death related losses during the Covid pandemic.  You’ll learn evidence-based counseling strategies appropriate for the treatment of multiple types of losses and you’ll acquire the skills you need to tailor clinical interventions to the uniqueness of each client’s grief experience. Special attention will focus on the factors of Covid bereavement that may lead to prolonged and complicated grief.

Attend this presentation and you’ll learn how to guide your clients through making meaning after loss.  A highlight will be a video discussion with a client examining her grief journey with a young daughter during the pandemic. Finally, the grief we experience as clinicians will be examined.

Brad Leary is a licensed clinical social worker and certified thanatologist.  He has worked in healthcare for 24 years primarily in oncology and hospice care. Brad is currently working part time at Hospice of the Valley in San Jose providing counseling services for all types of losses. He is a certified grief counselor specializing in sudden and traumatic deaths including suicide loss. In addition to his work, Brad has a part time psychotherapy practice in Belmont.
